One of the big factors of hardness choose principle is the pressure. O ring viton 90 shore is used when there is high pressure. Common hardness of FKM is 75±5 Shore A, which can resistant to around 8-10 Mpa in static sealing
Static seal working pressure
When there is no retaining ring, the maximum pressure can reach 20MPa;
With retaining ring, the maximum pressure can reach 40MPa;
When using special retaining ring, it can reach 200MPa at most.
Dynamic seal working pressure
When there is no retaining ring, the maximum pressure can reach 5MPa;
When there is a retaining ring, the pressure is higher.
