The 8th China Charity Award results are announced recently. Baosteel wins "2012 China Charity Award ? most charitable enterprise". This is the fifth time that Baosteel is awarded "China Charity Award" and the second time that it is rated "most charitable enterprise". According to statistics, Baosteel donated a total of more than 64 million last year.

"China Charity Award" organized by the Ministry of Civil Affairs is the highest government award in China's philanthropy area. Its aim is to recognize individuals, institutions and projects which have made outstanding contribution in disaster relief, the relief of the aged, the disabled, orphans and the poor, scholar and medical help, art sponsorship, environmental protection support and other charity field. It aims to vigorously promote the honourable action in the society such as  helping the poor, dedication and paying back to the society and the spirit of charity such as demonstrating compassion for the people and helping the community.

Last year, Baosteel actively participated in public welfare, spread Baosteel public culture and solved social problems with positive and rational public service activities. For instance, it joined hand with Shanghai Elderly People Foundation and offered New Year's gift to needy elderly in Shanghai; It planned and participated in various charity activities, organized "care for autistic children - Expo seeds charity bazaar". The activity funds are to support Qingcong Spring autistic children's rehabilitation center and are directed to fund the treatment of autistic children in Baosteel's surrounding communities. In addition, Baosteel cooperated with NGO China Development and organized "quick walk for an egg" for Baosteel employees to participate in. A total amount of 163,000 yuan were raised. It is equivalent to 204,000 eggs, which can provide 2,272 children in poor areas with eggs for a semester.

In addition to Shanghai, Baosteel also strongly supports the development of neighboring countries and communities. In Australia, Baosteel will spend five years in helping Western Australia Paraburdoo Primary School carry out Chinese language teaching plans, and the investment will be more than 1 million yuan; In Ningbo, Baosteel has spent 10 consecutive years in helping Fenghua Minhang village get out of poverty. Since 2010, it has donated to Ningbo Beilun District Charity Federation for five consecutive years and established minors' major disease relief fund, amounting to 2 million yuan. In Guangdong, Baosteel continues to fund Guangdong Poverty Alleviation and Difficulty Relief Day activities. In 2012 it donated 2 million yuan and the total donation is 8 million yuan; To rescue children affected by AIDS, since 2010, Baosteel begins to donate to China STD and AIDS Prevention Foundation, totaling 260000 yuan.

Over the years, Baosteel continues charity donation and has never stopped. Baosteel Tibet aid work has been going on for 10 years and a total amount of more than 100 million yuan has been invested. It helps to build local new kindergartens, municipal roads, farmers and herdsmen housing supporting project and low-rent housing supporting project. Since 2008, Baosteel begins to support 4 poor counties in Pu'er, Yunnan. For five years, a total of 57.95 million yuan is invested. There are 166 reconstruction projects, covering 29 towns and 171 villages. Baosteel and Shanghai weak economy village twinning helping work has also been carried out for many years. It has donated a total of more than 10 million yuan, which helps Baoshan District Luojing Town, Yuepu Town, Chongmingmiao Town, Jinshan District Shanyang Village to improve mobility roads, construct public service facilities and renovate village factories. All this largely enhances the living standards of villagers and stimulates local economic development.

It is reported that the "Eighth China Charity Award" establishes a total of 100 recognition titles in four categories, i.e., 20 "most charitable models", 20 "most charitable personnels" and 40 "most charitable enterprises" ( 10 state-owned enterprises, 20 private enterprises, 10 Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and foreign-funded enterprises) and 20 "most influential charity projects".
